The Department of Education offers programs in teacher education in Elementary Education (grades 1-6) and Secondary Education (grades 7-12) which prepare students for a variety of classroom teaching contexts in Catholic, private, charter and public schools. After successful completion of the program, students are eligible to apply for a Standard Teaching Credential (License) with the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) in DC.

The Department also offers a program in Education Studies intended for those interested in employment in professions related to education, such as local, state or federal government education positions; industry and/or trade association education positions; or education positions in hospitals, museums, foundations, professional associations, or charitable organizations. Students in this program are not eligible to apply for licensure upon completion.
